My new favorite medication for treating hot spots in labradoodles is Schriner’s Herbal Spray. Our lovely girl Gucci had one of the largest hot spots I have ever seen, about the size of a baseball, and was very uncomfortable. I needed to treat her, but could not give her conventional medication because she was pregnant at the time. I tried Neosporin, but that did nothing to alleviate her discomfort. As a last resort, I decided to try Schriner’s Herbal Spray.
We have used Schriner’s to treat horse wounds for years, but I had never used it on any of our labradoodles. Well, after one day of spraying the hot spot only once a day, I noticed that Gucci was not scratching and rubbing the area as much. Day three of using the Schriner’s Herbal Spray, the spot dried up and the scab fell off. It was incredible! I am very pleased to see her comfortable again and will be adding Schriner’s to my list of must haves!
